Osteopathy

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a system of spinal and soft tissue manipulation that along with a healthy lifestyle aims at keeping the normal flow of blood and lymph ( a clear fluid that forms an important part of the return of circulation to the heart ) through the body. It differs from chiropractic in that it emphasises the importance of blood/lymph flow through the body. It does recognise that the nervous system does contribute to circulation flow because the sympathetic nervous system supplies the muscles in the walls of the blood vessels. Osteopaths usually do more soft tissue work (a type of specific massage) on the fascia, muscles and lymph glands than chiropractors.
